Going through the first 50 years of history, Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) saw the necessity to lay the foundation for the next 50 years of success. Crucially, RMHC needed a partner to facilitate the co-creation of a strategy that was globally inclusive. In pursuit of strategic excellence, RMHC engaged Bendelta in a 12-month consultation program to co-create a globally aligned strategic plan.
Globally aligned for strategic excellence
RMHC had strategic questions around growth, customer, risk, mission, vision, and values. Beginning with a white paper to explore: (1) emerging strategic questions; (2) global trends; (3) competitor analysis; (4) interrogating future questions for the strategy. A three-month discovery, planning, and research phase set the tone for a deep understand of RMHC’s context. Following a three-day workshop with the Global Advisory Team, Bendelta had some early understanding to the strategic question posed by RMHC. This was deepened by questioning at four key workshops across US/Canada, APMEA, Europe, and Latin America.
Locally relevant, universally adopted
Bendelta engaged across the globe through workshops, summits, conferences, surveys, and online programs. Seeing it as crucial, Bendelta wanted to include a system-wide perspective to the strategy, ensuring all those involved with RMHC would feel included in the outputs. To this end, Bendelta engaged with over 380 programs, across 65 countries, and through 45 workshops, achieving a 99% involvement rate across the worldwide system. These engagement points were synthesised into a final strategy report and a summary of a strategy on a page, which was delivered across a final three-day workshop with the global team. To round out the strategic design, Bendelta, alongside the RMHC team, developed an implementation plan for the next 12-months. All of this was to ensure the strategy was both locally and universally relevant, throughout the strategic implementation.
The outcome
Bendelta facilitated the strategic program allowing a transparent view of RMHC’s system, their collective vision, mission, and values across the globe. Delivering a new strategic framework, founded on a collaborative system-wide process, allowed RMHC to have global clarity and alignment. The unifying framework allowed the charity to anchor their core activities and aspirational growth to be founded on a depth, breadth, and capacity model. The Global Leadership Team were delighted with the outcomes and quality of the work, describing the work as “truly exceptional”.
